Surah Al-Inshirah (Chapter 94) – Tafsir, Message, and Relevance
Translation (Sahih International)
- Did We not expand for you your chest?
- And We removed from you your burden
- Which had weighed upon your back
- And raised high for you your mention
- For indeed, with hardship comes ease
- Indeed, with hardship comes ease
- So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship]
- And to your Lord direct your longing
Tafsir (Explanation)
Verses 1–4: Comfort from Allah to the Prophet
- “Did We not expand your chest?”
Allah reminds the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) of how He gave him inner strength, calm, and wisdom. - “Removed from you your burden”
This refers to the early struggles the Prophet faced—personal pain, spiritual concern for others, and the weight of his mission. - “Raised high your mention”
Allah promises that the Prophet’s name and legacy will be honored across time and nations—a clear truth today.
Lesson: Even during hardship, Allah gives spiritual support, removes burdens gradually, and uplifts those who remain patient.
Verses 5–6: The Most Famous Promise in the Qur’an
“Indeed, with hardship comes ease” (repeated twice for emphasis).
- Every difficulty is accompanied by a path to relief or growth—either spiritually, emotionally, or in real-life outcomes.
- This verse reassures anyone going through struggles: ease is not separate—it is intertwined with the hardship itself.
Lesson: In moments of struggle, there is always hidden ease—whether it’s inner strength, new understanding, or a better path opening.
Verses 7–8: What to Do After Relief
- “When you finish [your duties], then rise up again”
When one task or challenge ends, don’t rest aimlessly—move forward with purpose. - “And turn your focus to your Lord”
Direct your hope, ambition, and effort toward Allah, not worldly applause or reward.
Lesson: After accomplishing one goal, return to worship, service, and deeper connection with Allah. True fulfillment comes from alignment with your spiritual purpose.
