Surah Al-Ikhlas (Chapter 112) – Meaning, Tafsir, and Modern Relevance
Translation (Sahih International)
- Say, “He is Allah, [who is] One,
- Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
- He neither begets nor is born,
- Nor is there to Him any equivalent.”
Tafsir (Explanation)
Verse 1 – He is Allah, One:
Affirms the absolute oneness and uniqueness of Allah. He is not just one in number, but uniquely One in His nature, being, and authority—unlike anything or anyone else.
Verse 2 – Allah, the Eternal Refuge:
Allah is completely self-sufficient, independent of all, while everything else depends on Him. He is the source of protection, provision, and strength.
Verse 3 – He neither begets nor is born:
Allah does not have children nor was He born. This rejects all human-like attributes or myths about God having a lineage or origin. He is beyond time, creation, and human limitations.
Verse 4 – Nor is there to Him any equivalent:
There is nothing and no one like Allah in any way—no resemblance, no partner, no comparison.
