His training took him through prestigious institutions, including Osmania General Hospital in India, Berkshire Medical Center in Massachusetts, and Nassau County Medical Center in New York, where he specialized in general surgery and orthopedics. By 1976, Dr. Mirza was board-certified in orthopedic surgery and later received a subspecialty certification in hand surgery, a field in which he would become a transformative figure. His expertise and leadership led him to serve as Chief of Hand and Microsurgery-Limb Reimplantation at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, Director of Hand Surgery at Northport VA and Nassau County Medical Center, and an attending physician at Stony Brook University Hospital. As an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at SUNY Stony Brook, he dedicated himself to mentoring the next generation of surgeons, instilling the same values of integrity, perseverance, and compassion that guided his path.
